Data protection regulation pursuant to General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and § 13 German Telemedia Act (TMG)

We highly value our users’ privacy. Therefore, the following regulations are applicable to users of forschungsdaten-bildung.de.

1. Scope

These data protection regulations are applicable to services offered by Verbund Forschungsdaten Bildung (VerbundFDB) at https://www.forschungsdaten-bildung.de/index.php?la=en and meinfdb.forschungsdaten-bildung.de  as well as personal data collected by these websites. 4. Legal basis and handling of your data

DIPF collects personal data on this site to deliver services offered, and to enable access to these services by the users.

The data and log files are – in some cases temporarily – stored pursuant to points a, f, article 6(1) GDPR. The personal data we collect in order to fulfil certain services are obtained on the basis of your agreement regarding storage and processing of these data, pursuant to the terms of use and subject to art. 6 (1) point a GDPR.

The operators of this website will not transmit your personal data acquired by this website to external parties without your consent.

6. Duration of Storage

Some of the data are only stored temporarily by this site, or to deliver a specific requested service (IP address). For data security reasons - that is, in order to investigate unallowed access or to prevent unlawful use of the site, the full IP address of a requesting computer is assessed, stored, and anonymized seven days after access. Personal data related to a user account at VerbundFDB are stored for the period of existence of the user account. Upon deletion of the user account, information that is relevant for statistical purposes will be stored in anonymized form.

7. Your rights

As a user of this site, you have the following rights pursuant to articles 15-18 and articles 20-21 GDPR.

7.1 Right of access to information

Pursuant to article 15 GDPR respectively § 52 HDSIG, you can request information about the personal data we process. Please state your request precisely to help us compile the data you need. Please note that your right to information is limited by §§ 24 (2), 25 (2), 26 (2) and 33 HDSIG § 52 (2 to 5) HDSIG.

7.2 Right to rectification

If the data concerning yourself are not (or no longer) correct, you can request their rectification pursuant to art. 16 GDPR or § 53 HDSIG. You can request the completion of your data if they are incomplete.

7.3 Right to deletion

Given the conditions outlined in article 17 GDPR and §§ 34 and 53 HDSIG, you can request the deletion of your personal data.

7.4 Right to restriction of processing

Subject to article 18 GDPR or § 53 HDSIG, you have a right to restricting the processing of your personal data.

7.5 Right of data portability

Pursuant to article 20 GDPR, you have a right to obtain the personal data we have stored with your consent in a structured, commonly used, machine readable format. Moreover, you have a right to transmit these data to another controller without hindrance by the controller who first obtained the data if processing is based on consent pursuant to article 6 (1) point a GDPR or article 9 ( 2) point a GDPR or a contract pursuant to article 6(1) point b GDPR, and processing is based on automated procedures.

In exercising this right, you are moreover granted a right to effecting that your personal data are immediately transmitted from one controller to another, if technically feasible. The freedom and rights of other persons shall not be violated.

7.6 Right to object

Pursuant to 21 GDPR, for reasons of your specific situation, you have a right to object to processing of your personal data at any time, in relation to data processing based on article 6 (1) point e or f.

7.7 Right to complain

If  you think we we have not observed data protection regulations in processing data, you can appeal to  the Data protection and information security officer in the federal state of Hess (only availabe in German) who will check your complaint.

8. Caveat

Please note that communication via internet (e.g. via e-mail) might be vulnerable to security flaws. It is impossible to assure that data will not be accessed by third parties. Hereby, we strictly object to the usage of contact data published in the compulsory imprint by third parties, for the purpose of transmitting unrequested advertisements and information materials. The providers of this website reserve their right to prosecute, in the case of receiving unrequested advertisement, for instance via spam mails.

9. Web Analysis

Explanations concerning Piwik/Matomo Web Analytics

Our website uses  Matomo (formerly Piwik), a so-called web analytics service. Matomo uses so-called "cookies", that is text files that are saved on your computer and that enable us to analyse the use of our website. For this purpose, the user information created by the cookie (including your abbreviated IP address) are transmitted to our server and saved for the purpose of usage analysis so we can optimize our website. During the process, your IP address is immediately anonymized and you as a user remain anonymous. The information created by the cookie regarding your usage of our site is not transmitted to any other party. You can adjust your web browser settings to prevent the creation of cookies, but in such a case you might not be able to use the website to its full extent.
If you disagree with the storage and analysis of these data from your visit, you can object to the storage and analysis at any time via mouse- click. In this case, a so-called opt-out cookie will be placed in your browser, consequently Matomo will not assess any session data. Please note that the opt-out cookie will be deleted when you delete your cookies and you might have to reactivate it.
