VerbundFDB as part of KonsortSWD

VerbundFDB is participating in the development of the national research data infrastructure for the social, behavioural, educational and economic sciences within the framework of the German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI).

VerbundFDB has joined other partners in the development of  KonsortSWD – Consortium for the Social, Behavioural, Educational and Economic Sciences. As one of many subject-specific consortia, KonsortSWD is part of the  German National Research Data Infrastructure (NFDI), which has been funded by the federal and state governments with approximately 70 million euros per year since 2020.

KonsortSWD cooperates with many research data centres (RDC) and institutions - also from the field of educational research – to develop services that support researchers in sharing, using and managing data. An excerpt:

• Qualidatanet - Sharing and re-using qualitative research data: This project concerns the development of a federated research data infrastructure for qualitative social research data.

• Promotion of qualitative research data management: Tools, templates and handouts on key ethical, legal and practical challenges of qualitative data are developed.

• RDCnet: In this work package, conditions of access to sensitive, non-anonymised data are improved by networking visiting scientists' workplaces.

• MICA (Making Information Commonly Available): Within the framework of this work package, an information and discussion platform is being created focusing on questions of data offered and data used.

• Supporting research data centres: This work package supports the diverse landscape of RDC in standardising and harmonising work processes and services.

• RDM Compas – Developing and exchanging professional research data management skills: The work package aims to support RDM advisors and RDC staff with an online platform for teaching and information materials on research data management.
